Peace One Day was founded by British documentary filmmaker and actor Jeremy Gilley in September 1999. The charity promotes the idea of one day a year free of conflict and war, one day of a global truce regardless of all kinds of conflict.

The UN had already declared the third Tuesday of September the international day of peace in 1981. However initial success for the charity came on the 7th September 2001 when the United Nations passed a further resolution declaring 21 September the International Day of Peace with the additional aim of declaring a global ceasefire and doing so on a fixed day of the year.
To raise public awareness of Peace One Day, celebrities and musicians gather together for large concerts on Peace Day. With the proceeds of these concerts students are provided with packets of information and a documentary film was made of the entire process.

We will be in the Windy City this Friday September 9, from 7.30pm-9.30pm, Dancing Cumbia in DWTN Chicago at the 15th Annual SummerDance Festival. It feels good to be going back in Chicago and the Mid-West after such a long break, almost a year since our last visit. The Mid-West was one of the first regions of the US to embrace the Locos por Juana Sound, some of our first tours as a band outside of the South were in WI, IA, IL and MN..
So, for all of our old friends and NEW fans, we will see you this WEEKEND, Bendiciones…

Also with us this Friday will be Tierra Colombiana Folkloric Dance Company playings Alegre’s y Tambora’s Colobiana’s and giving FREE Cumbia Dance lessons from 6 – 7 p.

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events in partnership with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture presents the 15th annual Chicago SummerDance festival this summer. Each night of the 11-week series offers an introductory one-hour dance lesson by professional instructors followed by two hours of live music and dancing on the 4,900 square-foot, open-air dance floor designed by artist Dan Peterman. SummerDance runs July 7 to Setember 18, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, from 6 to 9:30 pm, and Sunday afternoons, from 4 to 7 pm, weather permitting.

Ultimate Ears first appeared on the scene in 1995, much like a small garage band. Based on word of mouth, business was conducted out of the back of a tour bus. And soon, those in the know started flocking around.

The buzz was that Ultimate Ears was making something totally different—something that protected musicians’ hearing while allowing them to perform better. Instead of standing in front of speakers on stage, artists were able to have customized micro-speakers fitted directly into their ears. A revolution in live sound reproduction was underfoot. And the best ears of the industry agreed—Ultimate Ears sounded phenomenal.
